Marketing a Novel

I consider this one of the most challenging topics for a novelist, and writers/artists in general. Thanks for being here and reading by the way. So you’ve got your book done, polished, edited, and have chosen what way of publishing you want to do. So once it’s published then what? That is the big question what is the best way to push a book in the world of advertisement? Well, I am still finding a few ways now and then that are different avenues. There is a few free ways to push a book to the general audience. Firstly social media, build your social media accounts on any platform you are comfortable with. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to push any type of product. Find free places to post pieces of your book that are high traffic areas like wattpad.

Sometimes, you can give a free copy to some bloggers and if they like it they could give a shout out to you and the book. Another option is save up 200-300$ before you publish to use for small ads on blog sites, and regular websites that offer the service, you can find those types of options on like fiverr. There you can find bloggers, podcasters, and many others who have different ways of promoting. If you choose another author or book critique make sure they have a similar genre of writing or art you are trying to promote. You can also pay for honest reviews to help build a fan base on like amazon. You just have to think out of the box sometimes to push art or books, especially when starting out. Another trick is to buy few copies of your book and say read and pass along please in the cover. Leave them in like cafe’s, buses, subways, laundry mats etc. Anywhere there is people in and out there is a chance word can spread and so can your books.

Networking is a heavy key to any success, and even though it is coronavirus right now, you can still go to chat rooms, social medias, and talk to those who are neighbors and friends. Ask them to post it to their social media if they are willing. You just have to keep looking at different ways to promote yourself because as I stated before unless you are fairly well known author already a traditional publisher will not worry about pushing your book much, and you are totally on your own for promoting once you self publishing. I know it can seem like a daunting task, even worse than writing a novel itself but if you really want it you have to push for it and try again and again with any art or books you create. If you give up you never know that next piece of art might happens to cause a big break in your career. Just remember if you consider it worth fighting for, then keep fighting for it. You never truly fail until you stop trying to pursue something you enjoy doing.

Well that is for me right now, I hope things go well and keep being creative!
