Poem: Once upon

Once Upon a summer we met where the ocean craze had hungry gaze across the shore. A flicker of candle light, a love unsure. From twilight’s peak from dawn’s red glaze we started a story in a stormy haze. The war began, we said goodbye; forbid the tears and tell no lie. Feel the sand between the toes let the whispers be carried across the waves; can the love survive the test of time or life’s strange humor to twist and turn the clock? The heart can stray, the mind betray what truly shows and what grows within the soul. There is no answer for the lovers that have ventured to the dark and as the battle rages on between the ocean shores; the love may live or die but the truth is buried beneath the rising tide.
