Choosing a Book Title

Hello all, thanks for stopping in. This one is a bit short but it’s a easy topic to cover for me. Choosing a title for anything be it poem, book, lyric, or even an art project can be questionable to some and complicated for others. Some people choose a title before even starting the project and others wait until they are completely done with it. A title can make or break a project, especially a book.

A title of a book should be interesting, catchy, clear and easy to read. It could even be a sentence or catch phrase inside the project itself. Such as Revenge is Just a Word, was literally a main theme in my novel. It was mentioned 2-3 times throughout the plot. It is Simple but unique. It can catch a curious eye and make a fan wonder hmm, I wonder what that is about. The other draw to selling a book at first glance is the cover which I will write about in another post at some point. So how do you find the title you want for your project? Try something that matches your over all story or is reoccurring theme, also maybe it is a main place or scene that is majorly involved in the plot line. Like my next novelette has a place that was heavily emotionally connected to the main character from her life being so imbedded and weaved with the area.

You can even tie it to a characters name. It doesn’t have to be really tied to the project if you don’t want it to be but it makes it easier. Though if you have a catchy title that can cover a variety of topics or link to anything then go for it. Make sure you feel comfortable about it and enjoy it, that is main point try not to stress over it and if you are stuck over a title just take a break from it and you never know when it might come to mind. If someone else is reading your book maybe ask them for an opinion. Sometimes writing out a few options and just jotting ideas can help come up with something. If you can make your mind up on one get opinions or draw it out of a hat. Just keep in mind it is a main thing a person sees when looking at books. Good luck with your projects.
